01

Education system

A Laurea commonly lasts three years and a Laurea Magistrale two. The institution evaluates the qualification, while applicable visa pre-enrolment is completed through Universitaly.

02

Who it suits

  • applicants to Italian- or English-taught programmes
  • students interested in design, architecture, business, engineering, science or medicine
03

Study levels

  • Foundation Year
  • bachelor’s degree
  • master’s degree
  • PhD and AFAM
04

Languages of instruction

  • Italian
  • English
05

Academic requirements

Applicants need a qualification that grants access to the selected level. The institution checks duration, subjects, entrance tests and portfolio where relevant.

06

Language requirements

The programme sets the Italian or English level. Medicine, architecture and creative courses may have separate competitive selection.

07

Documents

  • passport after programme selection
  • school certificate or degree and complete transcript
  • official translations in the required format
  • language certificate where required
  • personal statement, CV, references or portfolio under programme rules
  • financial and visa documents at the relevant stage
08

Application stages

  1. 01profile and budget review
  2. 02longlist and eligibility check
  3. 03shortlist with primary and backup routes
  4. 04document preparation and quality control
  5. 05submission through the official portal
  6. 06offer, funding, visa and departure work
09

Preparation timeline

For most pathways, starting 9–18 months in advance is sensible. Scholarships, medicine, creative programmes and complex recognition require more time.

10

Intakes

Autumn is the main start. Admission, Universitaly, DSU and visa deadlines are separate and must be managed in parallel.

11

Tuition fees

At public universities, fees often depend on programme, status and income, ranging from reduced contributions to EUR 4,000+ per year. Private programmes cost more.

12

Living costs

Milan, Rome, Bologna and Florence require different budgets. Rent, deposit, transport, food and waiting time for regional support all matter.

13

Grants

  • regional DSU support
  • MAECI
  • university waivers and merit scholarships
14

Scholarships and discounts

Coverage, eligibility and deadlines are checked against the current call. Admission and funding decisions may be separate processes.

  • university waivers and merit scholarships
15

Visa requirements

Pre-enrolment does not guarantee a visa. The consulate separately reviews admission, finances, housing, insurance and purpose.

16

Housing

University housing and its deadline are checked first. Private rental is considered only after the contract, registration, deposit and transport links are reviewed.

17

Work during studies

Student status generally allows limited work under current rules, but employment does not replace visa financial evidence.

18

After graduation

Post-study options depend on the level, profession and immigration status: further study, an eligible post-study route, or returning with an international qualification.

19

Advantages

  • strong public and creative institutions
  • regional student-support mechanisms
20

Risks

  • misaligned university, funding and visa deadlines
  • legalisation, recognition and translation requirements
22

Team experience

RBEC draws on experience in selection, documents, applications and student support. Experience with an institution does not automatically mean an official partnership.

23

What RBEC does

  • review the profile and previous education
  • select programmes and backup options
  • build a deadline and document calendar
  • prepare admission, scholarship and visa tracks
  • recheck dynamic requirements before every submission
24

Frequently asked questions

Can you state an exact minimum grade in advance?

Most countries do not have one national threshold for every programme. A realistic benchmark is built from the selected universities.

When is it safe to pay a deposit?

Only after the offer, official invoice, refund rules and impact on the visa stage have been checked.

Can part-time work fund the degree?

Employment should not be the main visa funding plan. Eligibility and hours depend on status, programme and immigration rules.
